Here’s how to automatically start LiveUpdate every day so you don’t miss updates. You will still need to click on the "Next" button to start the actual LiveUpdate, but scheduling the LiveUpdate will pop up the LiveUpdate dialog box so that you will be reminded about it.
You should note that by configuring your system this way, daily updates should occur, and you may need to reboot your system because of these. You would need to do this anyway as part of the automatic LiveUpdate process.
Schedule a daily LiveUpdate
PROCEDURE:
Go to a command prompt:
Click Start->Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt
This will bring up a command prompt
Type or paste the following line (beginning with "at"). The line below starts the LiveUpdate at 5am every day. Just change 05:00 if you want another time (use 24hr notation). You may also need to adjust the path to LUALL.EXE if you installed NIS in a directory other than the default.
at 05:00 /INTERACTIVE /EVERY:M,T,W,Th,F,S,Su "C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LUALL.EXE"
Press ENTER
You should see a line that looks like this:
Added a new job with job ID = 1
Close the command prompt window.
This concludes the scheduling process. Your system should begin automatically running LiveUpdate at the time you specified.
For help on the "at" command, just type
at <ENTER>
at the command prompt.
Using the "at" command, you can add or remove scheduled events, should you wish to schedule other events or remove ones already scheduled.
