SAMBA (File Sharing) - OPTIONALIn the GUI go to System->Administration->File Sharing . Make sure SMB is installed. Create a share (say perhaps "fred") Set the user's SAMBA password (not the same as the login password) - NOTE: It would be nice to figure out how to synchronize these. To set the SAMBA password, go to Applications->Accessories->Terminal Say for example the user's user name is parent... type: sudo smbpasswd -e parent (You may be prompted for the adminstrative password) sudo smbpasswd -a parent (Enter the new password here) Testing the shareIn Windows, go to a command prompt (Start->Run->cmd) Type: net use * \\cfksys001\parent /user:parent ** If you get errors, check 1) your command lines you typed, that SAMBA is enabled, the share is created, and the smbpasswd commands above were run correctly. |

You have to change the volume with the main volume control (top-right of screen). You have to adjust the PCM volume rather than the master. The MASTER control has no effect. (Why???) (SEE Volume Control below)
